A Sad Loss This Week

I was saddened this week to hear that Matthew Shear, publisher at St. Martin’s Press, passed away. Although I only had the pleasure of meeting him once at the Flatiron building in New York where St. Martin’s is located, I was impressed by his friendliness. My editor says he was a wonderful boss and mentor, and he will sorely be missed by the staff at St. Martin’s. It was under his leadership that my career as a novelist finally came to be, and I will always appreciate that. Rest in peace.

Diane KellyHaha! Our terrier mix and shepherd mix are certainly selective, too. They hear "treat" without fail, but "down" or "no!" don't always register. Raggs is such a cute name!
Molly WestonReggie certainly looks happy! My own dog, Raggs, has "selective" hearing--and he's not well trained. But. Our dogs are family and we do love them.

It’s always sad to hear of somebody you’ve met (even once) to pass away. I’m sorry to hear this of a person in your work arena to pass away.
I recently had the same experience where an artist friend of mine passed away over that last few weeks. I only met him once when I was a teenager and he left a lasting impression on me. I was planning on going and visiting him this Christmas while I was down the coast, but it looks as though I’ll be visitng his family and grave instead; sadely.
It’s so good Matthew was the man who helped you rise to the place where you are in your writing career. Remember him for how he did that; and how good life is now as he’s the one who helped you get here. 😀
